A decision was taken by the refinery team to extensively trial a number of their knife gate valves retro-fitted with DUAL\u2019s\u00a0 sleeves after we confirmed their suitability and dimensional fit\u201d explained Justin Mirto of Dual Valves Australasia (DVA).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAn initial set of four valves was retro-fitted with\u00a0DUAL sleeves, and these were installed in selected worst performing areas where the OEM sleeves were consistently failing after only four weeks in operation. \u00a0At the time of writing this article, reports from the end user indicate the trial valves had been performing well for over 12 months.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Encouraged by performance of the sleeves, the refinery embarked on a program to refurbish all the OEM valves with DUAL\u00a0 sleeves as and when they fail \u2013 in an ongoing exercise that has resulted in the refinery enjoying a new-found luxury: a reliable stock of rebuilt valves sitting in their stores awaiting deployment \u2013 something that they had not achieved in years with the OEM.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll the clich\u00e9s apply \u2013 ownership costs are down, downtime has been slashed \u2013 and maintenance crew morale is up. It\u2019s been extremely satisfying to see these results unfold and recognised by end-users.
